'India can go to hell if they can't play in Pakistan,' Javed Miandad slams BCCI over Asia Cup controversy

A day after reports surfaced that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has threatened to pull out of the 2023 World Cup in India if Pakistan is stripped of Asia Cup 2023 hosting rights, former Pakistan captain and coach Javed Miandad made a staunch attack on BCCI saying India can go to hell if they don't want to come to Pakistan for the continental event.

Since Jay Shah became Asian Cricket Council president last year, the BCCI secretary announced that Asia Cup hosting rights won't stay with Pakistan as India can't travel to the country due to the current political scenario between the two nations.

Furious on Shah's continued stance, Miandad criticised BCCI and ICC as well, saying the latter is not doing its job as they should ensure India travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup.

"I have said this before as well, India can go to hell if they don't want to come to Pakistan. It doesn't bother us. It is ICC's job to ensure that India comes. If ICC can't control it then what's the use of being a governing body?" he asked.

Miandad, who played 124 Tests and 233 ODIs for Pakistan, said cricket can't be biased towards India as they don't run cricket.

"They should have the same rules for every team, if they don't fulfill commitments, however, strong they may be. India doesn't run cricket. It may be a powerhouse but in its home, not for us, and not for the world. Come play in Pakistan, why don't you play? If India loses in Pakistan, their public will not tolerate that," the former captain added.

"ICC should take strict action. Why is it there if they are not able to control these things? They have to put an end to things. ICC should take action against this kind of issue."

Pakistan is also slated to host the 2025 Champions Trophy.
