India battled hard on the fifth day to draw the 4th and final Test at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday. Australia claimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-0.
Speaking after the Test match, Kohli was asked by former Australia captain Mark Taylor, "Can India win the World Cup?" and the Indian batsman's reply was "Absolutely".
The righ-hander, who is the vice-captain of the ODI side, said the team needed to believe in itself at the big event.
"Absolutely (we can win the World Cup). If we believe in it, we can. We have done well in Australia," Kohli said.
Kohli will be playing in his second World Cup this year. He had a great debut in 2011 when he hit a century against Bangladesh and went on to win the trophy.
India, the defending champions, will open camapaign against Pakistan in Adelaide on February 15, one day after the tournament begins. The final is in Melbourne on March 29.
