India captain Rohit Sharma has found himself at the summit of an extremely prestigious list after India's T20 World Cup triumph in West Indies.
Team India ended their long wait for an ICC trophy by winning the T20 World Cup 2024, beating South Africa in the final in Barbados. After the heartbreak of the 50-over World Cup, it was an emotional moment for the entire team and the country.

Rohit Sharma led his troops superbly as they went on to clinch the title, the second T20 World Cup title for India. With that, India also emerged to the 2nd position with six ICC titles to their name.
And after the victory, Rohit Sharma has claimed the top spot of a prestigious record. The 37-year-old is now the captain with the highest win percentage in ICC tournaments.
Rohit Sharma led India in his fourth ICC tournament. He led India in T20 World Cup 2022, which India made to the semifinals. Then India lost the WTC Final last year. The men in Blue then had a stellar record in the 50-over World Cup last year with 10 wins in a row but lost the all-important Final to Australia. But it was a perfect redemption for them as India clinched the T20 World Cup title unbeaten, winning eight of their possible nine matches (one match washed out).
Rohit Sharma now has a win percentage of 84.6, which is the highest in the history of the game (captaining a minimum of 20 matches in ICC tournaments). Just after him is former Australia captain Ricky Ponting with a 78.4 win percentage.
Among the top five captains, there are two other Indians - Sourav Ganguly (72.7) and MS Dhoni (70.7).
It is to be seen if Rohit can better his numbers if he leads the Indian team in the upcoming Champions Trophy in 2025.
