India's triumph against Australia in the 1st ODI at Mohali on Friday (September 22) helped them climb to the top of the ICC ODI ranking chart. Indian team is now the no.1 team in all three formats.
India became just the second team after South Africa to do so. They replaced their arch-rival Pakistan to claim the no.1 spot. India are at 116 points while Pakistan with 115 points are at no. 2. Australia are at the third spot with 111 points.

With World Cup knocking at the door, this feat will give the Indian players a whole lot of confidence and they will look to carry this momentum into the championship.
The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to the X (formerly known as Twitter) to congratulate the Indian team. He said, "Numero Uno in Test, ODI, and T20I cricket. Heartiest congratulations to Team India for achieving this historic milestone. The rankings reflect the hard work put in by this team as they chase excellence on the field. This is fantastic achievement just ahead of the World Cup."
"Also 1-0 up against Australia with a win in Mohali. Let's keep the momentum going.", he added.
Earlier on Saturday, India defeated Australia by 5 wickets in what was a dominating performance by the Indians. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, India restricted the Aussies to 276 runs on a flat batting track.
Mohammed Shami gave a marvelous performance with the ball, picking up a five-wicket haul. He took wickets with the new ball, old ball, and in middle overs too. Ravichandran Ashwin who was coming into the ODI setup after more than a year, bowled well and took on wicket. Ravindra Jdeja and Jasprit Bumrah too shared a wicket each.
While chasing the total, Indian openers Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave India a thundering start and added 142 runs for the first wicket. After 3 quick wickets, captain KL Rahul and middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav completed their individual half-centuries and helped India win the match by 5 wickets.
