India coaching shake-up? Ryan ten Doeschate wants to leave, Gambhir yet to agree: Report
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has reportedly expressed his desire to step away from the national team setup, although head coach Gautam Gambhir is yet to sign off on the request.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the former Netherlands all-rounder has informed the BCCI that he wishes to leave the role after completing his initial two-year contract, with the third and final ODI against England at Lord's on July 19 potentially marking his final assignment with Team India.

Why does Ryan ten Doeschate want to leave?
The report states that ten Doeschate's decision is driven by personal reasons rather than dissatisfaction with the role.
His family is based in London, and with his wife working and their three young sons requiring greater attention, the extensive travel associated with the India coaching job has reportedly prompted him to seek a position that allows him to spend more time at home.
The report adds that any departure is expected to be amicable, with both parties likely to part on mutual consent if an agreement is reached.
Gautam Gambhir yet to approve request
Despite ten Doeschate informing the BCCI of his intention to leave, the report claims Gautam Gambhir has not yet agreed to the move.
The two are understood to share a close professional relationship, with Gambhir personally recommending ten Doeschate's appointment when he became India's head coach in 2024.
According to Cricbuzz, Gambhir values ten Doeschate's contributions and could still attempt to persuade him to continue, particularly given India's recent struggles across formats.
Uncertainty over Ryan ten Doeschate role
The report also suggests ten Doeschate's responsibilities within the coaching staff may have been somewhat unclear.
Although fielding is regarded as one of his core strengths, India already have T Dilip serving as the team's designated fielding coach, potentially limiting ten Doeschate's involvement in that area.
No official confirmation yet
Neither the BCCI nor Ryan ten Doeschate has publicly commented on the report.
Cricbuzz also noted that it did not contact the assistant coach directly as the Indian team is currently in the middle of the England tour, but said it had reached out to the BCCI for comment.
For now, ten Doeschate remains part of India's coaching staff, with his long-term future expected to become clearer once the ODI series against England concludes.
