BCCI has announced Gautam Gambhir as the next India coach. The appointment of Gambhir as the successor of Rahul Dravid was announced on Tuesday (July 9).
Gautam Gambhir has now become the 25th person to take the charge of the Indian team.

Late Keki Tarapore was the first coach of the Indian cricket team back in 1971. He played one Test match for India and hailed from Mumbai (then Bombay).
Gautam Gambhir becomes the 25th person to coach the Indian cricket team. He is also the 21st Indian coach who will be the professor of the national team.
The four foreigner coaches are- John Wright, Greg Chappell, Gary Kirsten and Duncan Fletcher.
Among the 25 names, Ravi Shastri and Sanjay Bangar have had multiple stints as coach of the Indian team. Bangar was appointed twice as the interim coach, while Ravi Shastri had one interim stint in 2007, one stint as Team Director (2014-16) and then a full-fledged coaching tenure.
Ravi Shastri has been the longest-serving coach of the Indian cricket team with a combined tenure of more than 6 years.
PR Man Singh, under whose guidance India lifted the historic 1983 World Cup, never played an international match.
As per as results are concerned, Rahul Dravid's tenure has been the most productive for India. During Dravid's tenure, India played the Final of the 50-over World Cup, won the T20 World Cup and also played the final of a WTC cycle.
