India secure stunning victory over Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to win inaugural Asia Cup

The Indian deaf team beat Sri Lanka to win the first edition of the ADCA T20I Asia Cup, 2026 at Cuttack's Barabati Stadium on Wednesday (February 25).

The Indian team put up a strong show and won the match by 6 wickets to win the inaugural crown. The event saw some amazing performances throughout the series, with India winning their very first match against Sri Lanka by 4 wickets, followed by a dominating 10-wicket win against Nepal in the second match, and Sri Lanka winning by 6 wickets against Nepal in the third match.

In the reverse fixture, Sri Lanka again won against Nepal by 157 runs, followed by India registering a narrow 1-run win against Sri Lanka and a dominating 9-wicket victory against Nepal to secure their spot in the Final against Sri Lanka.

Ravi Kant Chauhan, General Secretary, DCCI, said: "India Deaf Team's triumph in the inaugural ADCA T20I Asia Cup is a proud moment for disability cricket in the country. This victory reflects the players' resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment. Such milestones reinforce the importance of structured opportunities and continued support to ensure our differently abled athletes receive the recognition and platform they truly deserve."

Speaking about the series, Mr. Sumit Jain, President, ADCA, and vice president DCCI said: "Hosting the first edition of the ADCA T20I Asia Cup, 2026 in Barabati Stadium was a true privilege for us and reflects our continued commitment towards promoting cricket among hearing-impaired athletes from across Asia. I congratulate all the participants who were part of this historic event, and we hope to continue hosting more of these international matches across Asia. We are also deeply honoured to have all the dignitaries present on this momentous occasion. I would like to extend my gratitude to all officials of ODCA and OCA for helping us organise this successful event here in Cuttack."

Asia Cup Award Winners

In a grand closing ceremony post the final, the Chief Guests, Shri Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde (District Magistrate and Collector, Cuttack), and Special Guest - Mr. Sanjay Roul (ex-International Cricketer) handed over the trophies to the winning teams, marking a significant milestone for the inaugural ADCA T20I Asia Cup series hosted by the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA), supported by ODCA & OCA.

Sai Akash, India, (27 runs in 14 balls and 2 wickets) won the Player of the Match award.

Gimadu L Malkam, Sri Lanka, (196 runs) won the Best Batsman of the Series.

Gihan Lasidu D' Silva, Sri Lanka, (10 wickets) won the Best Bowler of the Series.

Gimadu L Malkam, Sri Lanka, (196 runs and 7 wickets), won the Player of the Series.
