India head coach VVS Laxman asks Net Bowlers in Asian Games, BCCI set to apply Visa for Three Names

VVS Laxman has sought additional bowling support for India's men's cricket team at the 2026 Asian Games, with the BCCI planning to send three bowlers to Japan as net bowlers.

Laxman, who will take charge of the Indian men's team at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, has specifically requested the additional bowlers to assist the squad during its training sessions.

Mayank Yadav, Kartik Tyagi and Mohsin Khan are expected to join the main roster in Japan for the Asian Games. The trio are not part of the official 15-member playing squad but could travel with the team to provide specialist practice ahead of India's campaign.

According to reports, the BCCI has already applied for Japanese visas for Mayank, Tyagi and Mohsin. The three fast bowlers have been selected because of their experience and ability to provide quality pace-bowling practice in the nets.

Mayank Yadav is the most prominent name among the three. The Lucknow Super Giants pacer has generated considerable attention for his express pace, while Kartik Tyagi has also been regarded as a promising fast-bowling prospect. Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan adds variety to the group.

The three are expected to remain with the Indian contingent only until the men's team's first match, provided their visas are arranged in time. India are scheduled to begin their Asian Games campaign on September 28, having entered the tournament at the quarterfinal stage.

Laxman's appointment for the tournament comes as regular head coach Gautam Gambhir remains with the senior side for India's home series against the West Indies. Laxman previously coached India's men's team to the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
