Other than Yashasvi Jaiswal, all other Indian batters in the top 100 either suffered drops in ranking or failed to climb up the ladder.
Rishabh Pant, who climbed up to sixth position in the previous ICC Test batting rankings, fell out of the top 10. The 27-year-old featured in 11th position after scoring 18 runs and a duck in the IND vs NZ second Test.
Similarly, big names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continued their freefall down the rankings from previous weeks. Kohli dropped out of the top 10 as well, dropping six spots to 14th place. The star was in unusually poor form in the second Test, registering figures of 1 & 17 with the bat.
Captain Rohit Sharma was even worse, scoring a duck and eight runs in the two innings. As a result, he fell nine spots to 24th place. Shubhman Gill, despite falling one spot himself, was in a higher ranking in 20th place.
On the other side of the table, last week’s ranking winner Sarfaraz Khan was unable to sustain the blistering form that saw him score 150 runs in the first Test. The Test newbie scored just 20 runs in both innings combined.
As a result, the batter fell down 13 spots to 66th place, below Shreyas Iyer (58), and 59th-spot tie KL Rahul and Axar Patel.
