The Indian team along with the India A players, observed a moment of silence for the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, which has already taken lives of more than 250 people.
India A and India players are playing a closed-door intrasquad match ahead of the England Test series, and they stood for a homage to those lost souls ahead of the match on Friday (June 13).

A devastating air tragedy struck Ahmedabad on June 12, when a London-bound Air India flight crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, lost altitude just moments after takeoff and plummeted into the B.J. Medical College dormitory in the Meghani Nagar area, sparking a massive explosion and fire.
Of the 242 on board, 241 people lost their lives in what is now the deadliest single-aircraft disaster in India in nearly three decades. Remarkably, one passenger survived and is currently undergoing treatment. On the ground, at least five people were killed and over 50 injured, with many more feared trapped as rescue operations continue around the clock.
Preliminary investigations suggest issues with flap and landing gear deployment may have hindered the aircraft's climb. International aviation bodies are joining Indian authorities in the probe, as the incident also marks the first fatal crash involving a Boeing 787.
A minute's silence was also observed in the ongoing WTC 2025 final between South Africa and Australia, where both sets of players wore black armbands ahead of the start of the day's play at the Lord's Stadium in London.
The Indian cricket team will be playing in a five-match Test series against England, which starts at Headingley from June 20. Amid this, the head coach Gautam Gambhir has returned to India following his mother's health issues. Gambhir is expected to fly back to London early next week but it will depend on his mother's health status.
