India clinched a T20I series whitewash against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, with Suryakumar Yadav scoring the decisive runs. Despite a strong start from Sri Lanka, India maintained their dominance in this format.
India's openers struggled initially, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Sanju Samson (0), and Rinku Singh (1) all dismissed within the first four overs. Shubman Gill emerged as the top scorer for India, contributing 39 runs off 37 balls. Maheesh Theekshana was impressive with the ball, taking 3-28 and restricting India to 137-9.

Sri Lanka began their chase strongly, with Kusal Mendis scoring 43 and Kusal Perera adding 46. They lost only two wickets in the first 16 overs, setting up a promising position. However, India's bowlers intensified their efforts in the final overs, claiming six wickets in the last four overs.
With just six runs needed from the final over, Yadav's bowling forced a super over. Washington Sundar took charge and claimed two wickets in three balls, limiting Sri Lanka to just two runs in the super over. Yadav then sealed the victory by hitting a four on the first ball of India's super over.
This victory marks India's fifth win out of their last six men's T20Is against Sri Lanka (L1), including four consecutive wins. The Men in Blue have also won all four of their men's T20Is against Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka has now lost their last three men's T20Is at Pallekele, repeating a similar losing streak from September 2016 to September 2019.
The match highlighted India's resilience and ability to perform under pressure, further solidifying their strong record against Sri Lanka in T20Is.
