India series likely the last ODI for Bangladesh Captain
Kolkata, Apr 29 (UNI) India's forthcoming tour of Bangladesh may be the last one-day series for Bangladesh's most successful captain Habibul Bashar.
According to Daily Star, ''Habibul Bashar is set to retire from one-day cricket after the home series against India next month.'' The newspaper quoting reliable sources said the most successful Bangladesh captain is likely to make it official once the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announces the one-day team tomorrow for the three-match one-day international series against India.
The 34-year-old was forced to make the decision following poor run of form with the bat during the World Cup. It was learnt that the board pushed him to make a final decision about his one-day future in the wake of criticism from cricket fans.
And if everything goes according to plan, Mohammad Ashraful will take over as one-day captain of the 'Tigers' in the next series in Sri Lanka in July, the Daily Star stated.
Meanwhile, the Indian team led by Rahul Dravid's men will arrive in Dhaka on May seven to play two Tests and three one-day matches against the Tigers, the visitors' second full series in Bangladesh.
According to the newspaper, Chief selector Faruque Ahmed said the think-tank will sit tomorrow to finalise a 14-member squad for the one-day series.
The Test side will be announced during the one-day series.
It is almost certain that Habibul Bashar, will lead the team in the three-match one-day and two-match Test series against the wounded Indians, who suffered a five-wicket defeat at their hand in the showpiece event.
