India squad for Sri Lanka T20Is: After beating Zimbabwe 4-1 in Harare, India are all set to gear up for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting July 27 in Pallekele. The three T20Is will be followed by three ODI matches in Colombo from August 2.
In the absence of senior players, Shubman Gill led a team full of youngsters in Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue lost the first match but bounced back beautifully to win the next four matches on the trot.

The players gave their best shots to capitalise on the golden opportunity and make a case for themselves ahead of the Sri Lanka tour. Abhishek Sharma got out for a duck in his debut match, but slammed a hundred in the second game.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson did not get a match in T20 World Cup 2024 but pounced on the opportunities in Zimbabwe. Rinku Singh, Gill, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan also made the most of the opportunity.
However, there were three players who failed to do much, and now stand a strong chance of being dropped from the India squad for Sri Lanka T20Is. Let's have a look.
Riyan Parag: The Assam batter managed to score only 24 runs in two innings at an average of 12 and a strike rate of 88.88. Parag was picked in the squad on the back of a solid IPL 2024 season for Rajasthan Royals but failed to carry his form to Zimbabwe.
Dhruv Jurel: The later arrival of Sanju Samson in Harare gave Jurel a chance to feature in the first two games against Zimbabwe. He got to bat in just one match in which he could score just six runs off 14 balls.
Tushar Deshpande: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer played two matches, bowled six overs and picked two wickets at an average of 27.50 and an economy rate of 9.16. India already have an abundance of pacers at the moment, and it's almost certain that Deshpande would not be considered for the Sri Lanka T20Is.
Note: There is also a possibility that Abhishek Sharma, Khaleen Ahmed and Washington Sundar get dropped after their outings in Zimbabwe.
