India Squad Announcement LIVE Updates: The India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 is set to be picked on Tuesday (April 30). However, there is still uncertainty over the announcement of the squad.
The T20 World Cup 2024 will be taking place in West Indies and USA in June and here are the LIVE Updates for the squad announcement. The India coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar had a meeting on Sunday. (Refresh page for faster updates)

Three Players who perhaps deserved a chance in the Indian Team for T20 World Cup-
The 15 members and the 4 reserves if they get an opportunity, will be hoping to shine and play a part so that India can get their hands on their 2nd T20 World Cup title. There is no shortage of talents in the India squad who will give their 100 percent and beyond for the country without a shadow of doubt. Here are the Five players who may come out as the key figures for India (in no particular order)-
KL Rahul has been entirely axed from the India squad for T20 World Cup. And it looks pragmatic as both Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have a better strike rate than Rahul. The 30-year-old would be hoping to sharpen his batting blitzkrieg and showcase his prowess in the IPL 2024.
Mayank Yadav has been completely overlooked. The LSG pacer is fit to play tonight's match in the IPL 2024 but missed out on action for three weeks due to injury. That is perhaps the reason why he was not included.
But the way Mayank Yadav is playing, he will be knocking the doors of the Indian senior team in near future.
Four players are named in the Reserve Players List. Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed are decent picks, while Avesh Khan is also a smart decision. Rinku Singh will be disappointed though as many thought that the KKR southpaw will be included in the 15-man squad.
A much-deserved opportunity for Yuzvendra Chahal. The 33-year-old is performing superbly in the IPL and his selection is justified. Chahal's inclusion is a step forward and hopefully he is going to play a crucial part for the team.
Here is the Indian team and the Reserves-
Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Hardik Pandya (vc), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
Reserves: Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan

In the ongoing IPL 2024, Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 249 runs in 9 games at a strike rate of 154.66 for Rajasthan Royals. In 10 games, Shubman Gill has amassed 320 runs at a strike of 140.97 for Gujarat Titans.
It is going to be a toss-up between Gill and Jaiswal for the third opener as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the two opening options for Team India. KL Rahul is also opening the batting for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, having scored 378 runs in 9 games at an SR of 144. Since he won't be considered for the opening duties it will be interesting to see if the Karnataka wicketkeeper-batter will get a spot.
With India keen on having six bowling options and as much depth as possible in the batting line-up, they are set to carry a minimum of three all-rounders in the 15. Hardik Pandya, whose form with the bat and ball, still remains a concern will keep his spot as there are not many options.
Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube could be the other all-rounders in the 15-member India squad for the T20 WC.
Though Yuzvendra Chahal has had another exceptional IPL, team management is reportedly not keen on going back to him, as he is also not a reliable fielder. Jadeja, Kuldeep and Bishoni are all better fielders.
On the spin bowling front, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi are poised to form the slow-ball bowling contingent. Yuzvendra Chahal's inclusion will also be deliberated by the selectors, sparking curiosity as to whether the Rajasthan Royals' spinner, who missed out on the last two T20 World Cups, will be given an opportunity.
Shivam Dube is expected to make the 15, particularly as a power-hitter. With Chennai Super King not using him as a bowling option, there are apprehensions to consider him as an all-rounder, but given how India are thin on options when it comes to batsmen who could bowl a few overs, Dube remains a straight-forward choice.
Another major topic of discussion in the meeting will be the wicket-keeper's position as there is a neck-and-neck battle between Sanju Samson and KL Rahul. Rishabh Pant is said to be the first-choice wicketkeeper for Team India.
The selectors will also have to make a tough choice between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill as the third opener in the marquee event.
According to a PTI report, the national selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar will convene with BCCI secretary Jay Shah in Ahmedabad today to finalise the 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup in the Americas. However, the official announcement is likely to be postponed by a day. As the convenor of the senior selection committee (men), Shah's busy schedule with political engagements necessitates holding the meeting in Ahmedabad.
Former Australia cricketer Matthew Hayden said on Sanju Samson, "Sanju Samson always seems to get overlooked for national honours. I honestly have been saying this for a decade, I don't know why because he is a serious hitter of the ball and if you put him up top, he does the damage through the phases."
Former India cricketer and ex-selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes Mohd Siraj can't be the third pacer for India at the T20 World Cup as the right-arm quick is inconsistent.
"Mohammed Siraj can't be India's third pacer. He'll bowl well in one game and then not perform in 10 games. He's an erratic bowler, you saw it in the World Cup. He can bowl in the beginning but not at the end. I will not be taking Siraj."
Many players are in the fray for the T20 World Cup due to a good performance in the IPL 2024 and the domestic circuit, but only a select few will get a spot in the 18-member squad and three travelling reserves for the marquee event.

BCCI is likely to announce the squad anytime today. The most likely announcement will be in the 2nd half of the day.
Who can be the perfect vice-captain option for India? Considering Hardik Pandya won't be selected for that role, here are three names who the selectors can try to deputized Rohit Sharma-
MyKhel understands that selectors may select a maximum of four pacers in the squad. With Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube as added pace options if needed, they won't be investing too many slots in the pacers.
The predicted pacers are- Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Mohammed Siraj

Mayank Yadav has been a sensation in the IPL. Since his debut for LSG, the speedster has thrilled the cricket world with his pace and the accuracy that comes with it. Yadav suffered an injury and was out of action for the last three weeks. But he is fit and ready to feature again.
Will the selectors consider him for the India team? It looks like a tricky one. Although Mayank Yadav is a superb bowler, the chances are very bleak at the moment for the youngster. He may travel as a reserve player though.
The forms of the India probables in the ongoing IPL 2024 is another interesting prospect. In terms of batters, Virat Kohli has been the most prolific in the IPL so far, with 500 runs to his name.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored 447 runs in the IPL so far, but is likely to be omitted. Sanju Samson is also having a superb season for Rajasthan Royals.
India captain Rohit Sharma has managed 311 runs in 9 matches, with a strike rate of 160.
Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.
Rohit Sharma is likely to lead the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. There are reports that coach Rahul Dravid, Rohit and chief selector Ajit Agarkar are set to have a meeting in the weekend before announcing the squad.
There are high expectations of many names. Some of the veteran players are in the race while many new names have popped up during the ongoing IPL. Shivam Dube, Mayank Yadav, Dinesh Karthik - all are in contention for the World Cup squad.
