BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and USA from June 1.
Team India have named a decent team as Rohit Sharma is set to lead the team. Hardik Pandya has also been picked as Rohit's deputy, while the return of Yuzvendra Chahal is another positive selection.

Only nine players who were originally part of the World Cup 2023 squad were named in the T20 World Cup squad for India. They are- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel (both Hardik and Axar withdrew from WC 2023 squad due to injury).
There are a few new names who have arrived as Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal have now made their first entry in an ICC tournament. A returning Rishabh Pant is also picked, who has shown his prowess in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Amid this, there will be a few players who will feel disappointed and left out. Despite of performing in the India colours in the last year or so in the T20 format, three players will be sad that they won't be part of the main squad.
Rinku Singh's meteoric rise with KKR in IPL 2023 earned him an India call-up. The southpaw did superbly for India in the limited chances that he got and was in the Indian squad for most of the experts. A player like Rinku who has an innate ability to clear the boundaries is an asset but Rinku has only been named as a travelling reserve.
It is correct that the batter is having an underwhelming IPL 2024 as he hasn't got a lot of opportunities to bat, and perhaps that played a part in his omission.

| 15 | 11 | 356 | 89.00 | 176.24 | 67 | 2 | 31/20 |
Ravi Bishnoi will be utterly disappointed. The 23-year-old has been India's main leg-spinner in the T20I matches since making his debut in 2022. He has been a fantastic performer in the national colours and has previously had brilliant IPL outings. The Lucknow Super Giants bowler is having an underwhelming season in this edition as he has only 5 wickets in nine matches. The current form has to be the reason why he got dropped and it would be a bitter pill to swallow for him.

Despite having a stellar IPL 2024 and an excellent record in T20Is, Ruturaj Gaikwad will be disappointed that he was not picked for the India team. Gaikwad has shown his class as an opener for CSK in this IPL and is leading the five-time champions efficiently as well. He also has a hundred for India in T20Is and boasts a strike rate of 140 with a healthy average of 35 in national colours. But Gaikwad hasn't found his name among the 19 members and it is a disappointment.
