India defeated England by an innings and 64 runs in Dharamsala to win the 5-Test series by a 4-1 margin. After India finished their first innings at 477 and took a sizable 259-run lead, England were bundled out for 195 in their second innings on Day 3 of the Test match on Saturday, March 9.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who was playing his 100th Test, picked a five-wicket haul in the second innings. The off-spinner dismissed Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, and Ollie Pope inside the first 10 overs, before getting rid of Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes.

Jasprit Bumrah was leading India on Day 3 in the absence of Rohit Sharma who sat out with a stiff back. Bumrah struck twice in the 35th over to dismiss Tom Hartley and Mark Wood. Ravindra Jadeja broke a 48-run partnership between Joe Root and Shoaib Bashir, before Kuldeep Yadav picked England's last wicket in the form of a fighting Joe Root to wrap up a thumping Indian win.
Root stood tall at one end and scored 84 off 128 balls. He was caught at long-on by Bumrah while trying to take an aerial route with James Anderson on the other end. Kuldeep Yadav, who picked a five-fer in the first innings, finished with figures of 2/40 in the second innings. He dismissed Jonny Bairstow in both the innings.
Earlier on Day 3, India could add just four runs to their overnight total of 473/8. James Anderson dismissed Kuldeed Yadav (30) to register his milestone 700th Test wicket before Shoaib Bashir sealed his second five-fer of the series by dismissing Bumrah (20).
After India bundled out England for 218 in the first innings courtesy a Kuldeep Yadav five-wicket haul, India batters delivered a dominating performance to push England out of the match. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill slammed hundred, while Yashasvi Jaiswal, debutant Devdutt Padikkal and Sarfaraz Khan smashed a fifty each.
