Following significant losses to New Zealand and Australia, the BCCI plans to arrange three four-day matches in the UK. These games aim to prepare players for the Test series against England by familiarising them with red-ball cricket.
The matches against England Lions will occur after the IPL final on May 25, with the first Test at Leeds starting on June 20.

The BCCI believes this preparatory series is crucial for India's performance against England. The team recently suffered a 0-3 defeat at home to New Zealand and a 1-3 loss away to Australia.
"We had a similar A tour to Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy," a BCCI source stated anonymously. "These matches will help players adjust to English conditions and play red-ball cricket again."
Several key Indian players, including Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, are gearing up for Ranji Trophy matches resuming on January 23. However, due to the white-ball series against England starting on January 22 in Kolkata, some can only participate in one of the two remaining Ranji Trophy rounds.
The spotlight is now on Indian batters' participation in domestic cricket after a disappointing series in Australia. Veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli struggled Down Under, prompting attention on their form in upcoming domestic games.
The BCCI emphasises the importance of adequate preparation before heading into a major series. "We don't have many red-ball matches now as the IPL will start soon after the series against England," said a source. "It's not wise to send the squad without proper preparation since England's conditions are generally tough for batters."
Young Indian talents such as Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, Dhruv Jurel, and Prasidh Krishna impressed against the Lions last year before facing England at home. All these players participated in subsequent series against England, New Zealand, and Australia.
The upcoming series aims to provide Indian players with valuable experience in English conditions. This preparation is seen as essential for improving performance in challenging overseas environments.
