India and Pakistan will be up against each other for the first time since the Operation Sindoor, which significantly worsened the relationship between two neighbouring countries.
After a terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam on April 22, India retaliated with a strong reply and destroyed Pakistan's terrorist shelters through Operation Sindoor on May 7. It created tension as two teams were involved in a three-day-long firing at the border areas.

Amid this, the cricketing affair will begin for the first time between the two countries. The 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup is set to commence on September 30, with hosts India facing Sri Lanka in the tournament opener at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Australia, the reigning champions, will begin their title defense against New Zealand on October 1 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. In a notable development, Pakistan will play all of their matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka, under a hybrid hosting model mutually agreed upon by the BCCI and PCB.
The Indian women team will play Pakistan on October 5 in Colombo, marking the first cricketing encounter between the two nations since the Operation Sindoor. Harmanpreet Kaur and co. have a stellar record against Pakistan and will be desperate to secure another victory, albeit in Sri Lanka.
Amid the recent incidents, this match between the two arch-rivals is set to be the flagship encounter of the Women's World Cup.
Date: October 5
Venue: Colombo
The ICC tournament will conclude on November 2 and the final will be played either in Colombo or Bengaluru. Apart from these two venues, Indore, Guwahati and Visakhapatnam will also host matches in the tournament. The tournament will be played in a round robin format as top four teams to advance to the semifinals.
