India Tour of Zimbabwe: Shafali Verma & Deepti Sharma Named Deputies to new Captain Smriti Mandhana

New Delhi, Oct 6: Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma have been appointed vice-captains of India's T20I and ODI teams respectively for the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe, with Smriti Mandhana taking charge as the new full-time white-ball captain.

The leadership changes come after Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down as India's captain across formats. However, Harmanpreet will continue to be available as a player and has been named in both squads for the Zimbabwe series.

India will play a three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in Raipur on October 16, 18 and 20, followed by a three-match ODI series in Vadodara on October 23, 25 and 28.

The T20I squad sees Pratika Rawal miss out, while Niki Prasad, Minnu Mani, Anushka Sharma and Jintimani Kalita have been included. All four players were part of India's recent limited-overs and multi-day assignments against Australia Women.

In the ODI squad, Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol have been included, while Jemimah Rodrigues continues to remain unavailable after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier in August. She had also missed the Women's T20 Asia Cup and the Asian Games.

The ODI squad also features Vaishnavi Sharma, who recently claimed a six-wicket haul against Australia Women A, along with Tejal Hasabnis and Sayali Satghare.
