India U-17 cricketer allegedly drowns in Sri Lanka

Narendra Sodha,a 12-year-old cricketer from Surat, Gujarat, dies after allegedly drowning in a swimming pool in team hotel

Bengaluru, September 7: A 12-year-old cricketer from Gujarat, who was part of the 19-member India Under-17 squad, allegedly drowned in a swimming pool in Sri Lanka.

The boy has been identified as Narendra Sodha from Surat.

According to ANI, the incident took place on Tuesday (September 5) at the team hotel in Pamunugama, Negombo. He was having a pool session with four other teammates when the incident took place.

The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital but he succumbed to death there.

The cricketer's body was taken to Ragama Teaching Hospital for post-mortem and the local police has started investigation into the incident.
