Inaugural champions India will take on Afghanistan in the third match of the Super Eights of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday (June 20).
Rohit Sharma-led India head into the match on the back of an unbeaten group stage after wins over Ireland, Pakistan and USA followed by a no result versus Canada in their final Group A match.

Rashid Khan’s Afghanistan remained faultless in Group C until they met co-hosts West Indies. After impressive wins over Uganda, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, the Afghans sealed a Super 8 spot for the first time. However, they suffered a 104-run loss to Windies in the last match.
Despite that blip, Afghanistan have shown they can cause trouble to the best of sides in this tournament, but they face an uphill task against their Asian rivals India, who managed to qualify for the Super 8s without playing at their best.
As they prepare to face for the first time in Barbados, Afghanistan will hope their fortunes against India change when the two sides, who met earlier this year, clash for the 8th time in T20 format. Here is a look at the head to head numbers of IND vs AFG:
