Team India and Australia will warm up for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 with a three-match ODI series, starting with the first ODI at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday (September 22).
KL Rahul will lead India in Rohit Sharma's absence in the first two matches, while Pat Cummins, who is back in the squad after missing the tour to South Africa, is expected to lead a full-strength Australian side.

Australia had defeated India 2-1 in a three-match series earlier this year. But Team India will be a confident side coming into this series as Asian champions, while Australia dropped 2-0 lead to lose 2-3 to South Africa in their recent ODI assignment.
There will be a few names that are not part of their current World Cup squads competing in this series as both Australia and India will look to test their bench strength heading into the show-piece tournament, which is scheduled to begin on October 5.
India has included Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar as they sweat over the fitness of Axar Patel, who is out injured for the first two ODIs, but is expected to return for the final ODI depending on his fitness.
Apart from skipper Rohit, the hosts have also rested Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav for the first two matches with the quartet all returning for the final ODI.
The visitors will welcome the return of Cummins, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc. They have also included Marnus Labuschagne, who has made strong case to be included in the World Cup squad.
This series will allow both teams to finalize their squad for the show-piece event as the deadline without ICC approval to make any changes is on September 28, a day after the series ends.
The two sides will first clash at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, where they will meet in a ODI for the sixth time. And it's a venue where Australia have had more joy in their meetings with India.
The visitors have won four, including the most recent one in 2019. That was also the last ODI at the venue. Australia also beat India at this venue just over a year ago in the T20 format. Here is a look at the PCA Stadium ODI Stats, Record, Pitch Report and Mohali Weather Forecast:
Founded: 1993
Seating Capacity: 27,000
Ends: Yuvraj Singh End and Harbhajan Singh End
Number of international matches hosted: 14 Tests, 25 ODIs and 6 T20Is
The PCA Stadium is regarded as a batter's paradise, but the wickets have also offered early assistance to pacers and helped the spinners as the game progresses. The most recent ODI at the venue saw Australia chase down a score of 359 with ease.
However, the overall record at the venue indicates that the team batting first has had the most success, having won 15 times in ODI as opposed to 10 times when chasing a target. Expect another run-feast in Mohali on Friday (September 22).
The weather forecast for Friday (September 22) indicates a sunny and very humid afternoon with max temperature of 32° C, reducing to 27° C at the end of the day's play. There is no threat of rain on the matchday or in the lead up to the match. So, expect an uninterrupted match.
