India vs Australia 1st T20: 'Josh Inglis sprinkling salt on wounds!' Fans react following firework-filled century

By MyKhel Staff

Josh Inglis scored a sensational hundred during the India vs Australia 1st T20I in Visakhapatnam on Thursday (November 23). His 50-ball 110 knock took the newly-crowned 50-over World Champions to a massive 208/3 in 20 overs while leaving Indian fans frustrated right after the heartbreak of the big loss.

Josh Inglis was part of the Australian team that won the World Cup but his century came as a surprise for many as the wicketkeeper-batter had a quiet tournament with the bat. Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to express that the knock is to win an IPL contract with the auction nearing.

Against India in the opening Tw20I in Visakhapatnam, Josh Inglis struck his first T20I century as the wicketkeeper-batsman went crazy, slamming the white ball all over the park. The Australian made a mockery of the Indian bowling assault and reached the three-figure mark in 47 balls after scoring a half-century off only 29 balls.

Batting at a strike rate of 224.49, Josh Inglis struck eight sixes and eleven boundaries on his way to his century. After making 110 deliveries out of 50, Prasidh Krishna eventually overcame him.

Together with Aaron Finch, Inglis became the second-fastest Australian batsman to reach a century in T20I cricket in just 47 balls. In 2013, Finch broke the record in Southampton against England.

After surpassing the half-century for the first time in his career, Inglis turned into a big player and became the fifth Australian to hit a hundred runs in a Twenty20 international. As Matthew Short fell, and the score was 31/1, Inglis took on the Indian bowlers and hit a spectacular century.

Josh Inglis then joined hands with Steve Smith and forged a century-run stand to power Australia to a strong total. Both Inglis and Smith had a quiet World Cup with the bat while the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head and others took the centre stage.
