The Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam is all set to host the first match of the five-match T20I series between India and Australia on Thursday (November 23).
The two nations will be fresh from the ODI World Cup final meeting. But both sides will see some new faces as Suryakumar Yadav leads the home side and Matthew Wade is set to lead the visiting Australian team.

While the two sides have clashed several times in ODI format this year, this will be their first meeting in T20 format since September 2022, when India won the three-match bilateral series 2-1.
The two sides have played several T20 matches against different opposition post that series in 2022. Australia have lost only three times in the last 12 matches and are currently on a 6-match winning streak, while India has lost eight times in 27 outing with 1 match ending in a tie and 1 in no result.
Now, they are set to clash at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium, which was formerly known as ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, where they have already met once in the format.
The venue in Vizag has hosted three T20Is so far and also a few IPL matches when it was home to franchises Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants.
The ground had one of the best batting tracks in the world and is known for its lush green outfield. However, the venue had seen two low-scoring matches with first innings totals of 82 and 126 before the recent match saw the hosts India score past the 150-mark.
India have won 2 and lost once at the Vizag venue with their defeat coming against Australia in 2019. Here we take a look at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium info, pitch report and weather forecast ahead of India vs Australia 1st T20I:
According to AccuWeather, there is 60 percent chance of rain on November 23 in Visakhapatnam. The showers are expected to clear before the start of play with cloudy conditions forecast for the playing hours from 7 PM to 10:30 PM IST.
Rain Prediction for Vizag on November 23: There is prediction for rain in the early morning at 6 AM, and then again at 2 PM and 5 PM IST. So, there is every chance that the toss could be delayed, but the match may not entirely be washed out.
The pitch initially favoured batters and the stadium holds a reputation for having belter of tracks, but it has also assisted the spinners, making run-scoring harder in the second innings due to the low bounce.
Dew factor has also occasionally had an impact on the team bowling second, but that's unlikely to be the case with rain around. The matches at the venue have helped the team chasing in two of the three T20Is, but the most recent international match in the format saw the team batting first win.
