India Vs Australia 3rd Test: Holkar Cricket Stadium Indore Pitch Report, Weather Forecast, Stats and Record

India and Australia will meet for the first time in the longest format at Holkar Cricket Stadium, where the hosts have played two Tests so far, winning on both occasions.

Holkar Cricket Stadium to host India vs Australia 3rd Test

Up 2-0, Team India will aim to seal the series and a World Test Championship final spot when they face Australia in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, starting on Wednesday (March 1).

Rohit Sharma-led India currently lead the four-match series against Australia 2-0 after a thumping innings and 132 run win in the first Test at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur followed by an impressive 6-wicket win in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The spin trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin have showcased their all-round brilliance in the first two Tests and will once again be the major threats to the depleted visiting side, who will have a new captain in Indore.

While Ashiwn and Jadeja have shown their ability with both bat and ball, Axar has delivered with the bat in both Tests, playing an important role in the first innings of India. Axar and Ashwin dug the hosts out from 139/7 to frustrate the Australians.

Jadeja, who claimed three wickets in the first innings, completed the Test in Delhi with a 10 wickets following another five-wicket haul. The all-rounder, who made his return to international cricket in the series opener, has so far claimed 17 wickets in 2 Tests.

Now, the action shifts to Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, which happens to be a replacement venue after the original third Test venue - Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharmashala - was deemed unfit to host the match due to harsh winter conditions.

India and Australia will meet for the first time in the longest format at Holkar Cricket Stadium, where the hosts have played two Tests so far, winning on both occasions with Ashwin being the star performer with the ball.

India first defeated New Zealand by 321 runs in 2016. The hosts then defeated Bangladesh in the most recent red ball outing at the venue in 2019 by an innings and 130 runs.

The pitches at the Holkar Cricket Stadium are usually batting friendly in the short format, but like most venues in the sub-continent, they have assisted spin bowlers as the match progresses in Test. While it has been batting friendly in the early days, the wicket has also assisted pacers and then the spinners even from day one. Ashwin has a great record at the venue and will once again be a threat.

Indore Weather Forecast
