India's well-oiled machine suffered a voltage down in the last encounter against Australia, as the hosts capitulated to a crushing defeat in Indore in the 3rd Test.
The match ended within three days and there were questions asked on the pitch, but amid all this, Australia have found a route back to the Border Gavaskar Trophy as they aim to restore parity in the final match in Ahmedabad, starting from Thursday (March 9).
India made a couple of changes to their squad as Shubman Gill and Umesh Yadav came in for KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami. Although it was a collective failure for the home team in Indore, there are certain spots that the Indian think tank will be hoping to erase before the team marches on the grass of the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The issues of the last match haven't gained pace but there are a couple of areas the Indian team would like to think about ahead of the final match-
For the first three Tests, India have played KS Bharat as the wicketkeeper. Bharat has been chosen as the successor of Rishabh Pant as the latter recovers from the accident injuries that he suffered last year.
But so far, KS Bharat has had a torrid period with the bat. He has managed only 57 runs in the 5 innings with the bat, at a poor average of 14, and has failed to rise in crunch situations. Questions have been asked about whether Ishan Kishan must come into the team and a decision may well be made before the 4th Test.
Ishan Kishan is an aggressive batter and can be useful for the team for counter-attacking purposes. The southpaw has had a decent domestic season and scored a double hundred in his last ODI match against Bangladesh in December last year. Perhaps it will be the perfect thing to give him the opportunity in the final Test.
Axar Patel has done nothing wrong so far. He has been excellent with the bat and has been massively under bowled by the Indian captain in the first three matches. In the final Test, it will be a huge conundrum for Rohit Sharma whether he goes with Axar or adds another specialist batter in Suryakumar Yadav. But being Ahmedabad Axar's home ground, India may keep the left-arm spinner in the team.

KL Rahul was dropped in the 3rd Test after his underwhelming batting performances in the first two matches. His replacement Shubman Gill scored 26 runs in the first match across two innings. But it looks highly unlikely that Rahul will return in the final Test. Gill has been in tremendous form and it looks certain he will play in Ahmedabad as well.
Also, after a breather in the last match, Mohammed Shami may come back to the team in place of Mohammed Siraj.
India Probable Lineup for 4th Test vs Australia: Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma (C), Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishan Kishan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav
