India are on top of Australia in the first hour of the 3rd day in the second Test. The spinning duo of India have put the visitors under a stranglehold.

Australia finished on a higher note yesterday as they scored some quickfire runs in the 2nd innings. They started the day with a lead of 62 runs, but things have gone south since the beginning of the day.

The main aggressor Travis Head lost his wicket in the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin. And then Steve Smith fell to Ashwin yet again, this time while attempting a sweep and missing. The visitors were 95 for 3 and with Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw at the crease, the game was hanging in the balance.

But then started the brain fade of the Australian batters, quite inexplicably-

Australia lose 4 wickets in 11 balls:

Australia lost four wickets in the span of just 11 balls, without adding a single run on the scoreboard. It was nothing but some reckless and irresponsible shots from their batters. This is how it happened-

21.4 overs - 95/4 : Marnus Labuschagne (35) - b Ravindra Jadeja

Marnus Labuschagne made the mistake of not playing according to the merit of the ball and went to his backfoot. He was unlucky as the ball kept low and castled his stumps.

22.6 overs - 95/5 : Matt Renshaw (2) - lbw b Ashwin

Matt Renshaw played eight balls, this was his fifth attempt to sweep and he missed the ball completely. Ashwin was on target and even the DRS didn't save Renshaw, as the southpaw departed cheaply. Resnhaw came in as a concussion substitute for David Warner.

23. 1 overs - 95/6 : Peter Handscomb (0) - c Kohli b Jadeja

The very next ball, it was Ravindra Jadeja's turn to get another wicket. A flighted delivery bamboozled Handscomb, who only managed an outside edge. Virat Kohli made no mistake in the slip and caught it with ease. Thus, the Aussies lost five wickets within the first hour of the day.

Ravindra Jadeja

23.2 overs - 95/7 : Pat Cummins (0) - b Jadeja

This was the worst bit of batting, which came from Australia's captain Pat Cummins. He decided to have a slog on his very first ball. It was quite shocking to see the experienced campaigner attempting such reckless measures on his very first ball. He missed the ball completely as Jadeja rattled the stumps.

Thus, the visitors completely murdered their own chances within a span of just 11 balls. From a cliffhanger, the game completely tilted in favour of India.

Ravindra Jadeja gets a seven-for:

Alex Carey then also departed while playing an attempted reverse sweep and lost his stumps. Ravindra Jadeja thus completed his 12th five-wicket haul in a Test match and inflicted further damage to the visitors.

The left-arm spinner also wrapped the tail of the Aussie innings as he finished with 7 wickets to his name. Both Nathan Lyon and Matt Kuhnemann's wickets were castled by Jadeja as he completed the rout and finished with figures 12.1-1-42-7 in the inning.

Jadeja also picked up 10 wickets in the match, as he had 3 wickets in the first innings.

Australia Capitulation:

Australia were bowled out for just 113 runs in the second innings as Ravindra Jadeja picked up 7 wickets and Ashwin took the other 3. The visitors played some awful shots and lost their last 8 wickets for just 28 runs.

They took some catastrophic decisions and lost nine wickets within the first session of the 3rd day. It was a supreme bowling performance from the Indian spinning duo, but the Australian batters also played a huge part in their own downfall.
