A gloomy outing in Indore saw India bowled out for a paltry 109 runs against Australia in the 3rd Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy on Wednesday (March 1).
The Indian batters had no answer to Australia's spin attack as they capitulated within the first two sessions of the first day. Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann was the main architect of the Australian success, as he picked up five wickets in the inning. His fantastic figures (9-2-16-5) had India reeling and Kuhnemann was supported superbly by Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy, who picked up 3 and 1 wickets respectively.
Matthew Kuhnemann picked up his first five-for in only his 2nd Test. The left-arm spinner made his debut in the last Test at Delhi. He drew the first blood for Australia on Wednesday by picking up Rohit Sharma. Sharma's rush of blood led to his demise as Kuhnemann managed to deceive the Indian skipper and got him stumped. Kuhnemann then went on to take the wickets of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav to complete his five-wicket haul.
