India vs Australia: List of Injured Players

Australia opener David Warner is the latest player in the ongoing India versus Australia Test series to miss a Test match due to an injure.

Shreyas Iyer

India are hosting Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts on Thursday (February 9).

India and Australia will be locking horns in an enticing battle in the Red Ball format as both teams will be aiming for supremacy. Ahead of the First Test in Nagpur, both teams are already undergoing training sessions at their respective camps.

With the Four-Match Series beckoning, both the hosts and the visitors will be missing a number of players due to injury. While some of the players are already out with long-term problems, some names had to be withdrawn for a more recent injury problem.

There will be some key members who won't be able to take part in the series at all, while some are doubtful or ruled out for the first couple of Tests. Here is the Full List of Injured Players ahead of the First Test-

India:

The hosts will be taking the field with some pivotal names missing from their squad.

Rishabh Pant:

Rishabh Pant won't feature in the series after the wicketkeeper-batter suffered an accident last year. He underwent knee surgery and the complications mean the southpaw will be out of action for at least a year. Pant, who would have been an important piece of the jigsaw, going to be a big miss for the hosts.

Jasprit Bumrah:

India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is also ruled out of the Tests due to a back injury. Although it is unclear whether he will come back for the final two Tests, India certainly going to miss Bumrah in the first couple of matches.

Shreyas Iyer:

India's prime middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer is also ruled out of the Nagpur Test due to a back injury. He suffered the problem due to an earlier limited-overs series and has since undergone rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru. Iyer is expected to join the Indian squad in Delhi ahead of the 2nd Test.

Australia:

The visitors are also marred with an injury list of their own.

Josh Hazlewood:

The fast bowler is ruled out of the First Test with an Achilles Tendon Issue. He has been carrying a niggle for a long time and is also doubtful for the Delhi Test.

Mitchell Starc:

Mitchell Starc, another pacer of Australia who will not take any part due to an injury. He damaged his left arm during the Test series against South Africa and will not feature in the Nagpur Test.

Cameron Green:

Cameron Green fractured his finger and that means he won't be able to bowl, which led to his omission from the First Test. The all-rounder provides a much-needed balance to the Australia squad and the away side will miss that in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

David Warner: The 36-year-old Australian opener has been ruled after suffering a hairline fracture of the elbow. He was concussed out of the first Test after being hit by another rising delivery from Mohammed Siraj.

Josh Hazlewood: The Australian pacer has been ruled out after failing to recover from an Achilles injury. He has travelled back home.
