India's final lap of preparation for the World Cup 2023 commences on Friday (September 22) as they take on Australia in the first match of a three-match ODI series. The match will be played at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
After a victorious Asia Cup campaign, the Indian team will be hoping to continue their rich vein of form in the Australia ODIs, which will be nothing but preparatory for the upcoming mega event, starting October 5 on home soil.

BCCI named a segregated squad for the ODI matches. KL Rahul has been named as captain for the first two matches as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya are rested for the first couple of encounters. Ravichandran Ashwin has also made a return to the squad for the ODIs.
Australia are coming back off a 2-3 series defeat at the hands of South Africa. Despite a brilliant start in that series, Pat Cummins and his troops failed to consolidate and conceded the series. The onus will be on them to turn things around against the home side as they also enter the final phase before the World Cup.
