India vs Australia: Rohit Sharma, Team India Depart Without Yashasvi Jaiswal Over Punctuality Breach

India vs Australia: In an unusual turn of events on Wednesday, December 11, Yashasvi Jaiswal missed the Team India bus heading to Adelaide airport.

Despite his reputation for punctuality, Jaiswal failed to arrive at the team hotel lobby on time. This forced the team, led by Rohit Sharma, to leave without him, arranging a separate car for the young opener later.

What Happened Between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma?

The Indian team, including head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, was scheduled to depart at 8:30 AM local time for a 10 AM flight to Brisbane. As the squad gathered in the lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel, Jaiswal's absence caused an unexpected delay.

After waiting briefly, Rohit Sharma was seen stepping off the bus, instructing staff to locate the missing batter. With time running short, the bus eventually departed without Jaiswal.

Jaiswal arrived 20 minutes later to find the team gone. However, the management had arranged a car to ensure he reached the airport on time, accompanied by a senior security officer.

Such incidents are not unprecedented in Indian cricket. Even senior players like Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik have previously faced similar disciplinary breaches. Team India enforces strict rules around punctuality, and breaches typically result in fines. The exact reasons behind Jaiswal's delay remain unclear, but a penalty seems likely.

India Focuses on Third Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy

India suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat in the second Test at Adelaide Oval, leaving them desperate for a turnaround in Brisbane. Yashasvi Jaiswal, after a lacklustre showing in the Adelaide Test, will be under pressure to regain his early series form. The opener had starred in the first Test with a match-winning 161 but struggled to replicate that brilliance.

India trained extensively at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday to address their shortcomings, particularly after their batting collapse in the second Test. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, who travelled separately with their families, joined the team in Brisbane via a chartered flight.

With the third Test starting on December 14 at The Gabba, India hopes to deliver a stronger performance. Rohit Sharma, visibly frustrated by recent events, will expect his squad to refocus and find consistency.

Jaiswal’s punctuality lapse adds a minor distraction but highlights the team’s emphasis on discipline. With the Brisbane Test looming, India will aim to move past this hiccup and concentrate on securing a vital win.
