India vs Australia: Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 Third Test venue shifted to Indore from Dharmasala

The third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scheduled to be held from March 1-5, will now be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore instead of the previously announced venue of HPCA Stadium.

Holkar Cricket Stadium to host India vs Australia 3rd Test

Mumbai, February 13: The BCCI on Monday (February 13) announced that the venue for the India vs Australia 3rd Test has been moved from Dharmasala to Indore, owing to the harsh winter conditions.

The third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scheduled to be held from March 1-5, will now be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore instead of the previously announced venue of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala.

"The third Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, originally scheduled to take place at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala from 1st to 5th March has now been moved to Holkar Stadium, Indore," the BCCI said in a statement.

BCCI further added that the HPCA venue will need some more time to develop the outfield grass density, which is the reason the match was shifted to a different venue.

"Owing to harsh winter conditions in the region, the outfield lacks sufficient grass density and will need some time to develop fully," the BCCI further said.

The Holkar Cricket Stadium has so far hosted two Tests at the venue. India has beaten New Zealand and Bangladesh most recently. Both the results were pretty lopsided with India beating New Zealand by 321 runs in 2016 and, thumping Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in 2019.

India currently lead the series 1-0 after a dominant innings and 132-run victory in the four-match series opener at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur last week.

Australia was no match for the Indian spin trio Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, who delivered brilliant all-round performances. India skipper Rohit Sharma also scored a majestic hundred in testing conditions at Nagpur.

The second Test of the series will be held in Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium from February 17-21. The fourth and final Test of the series will be hosted in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad from March 9-13.
