India vs Australia: Why Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj Skipped Practice Session Before GABBA Test?

By MyKhel Staff

India vs Australia: Ahead of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at The Gabba, Brisbane, India's bowling spearheads, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, skipped a crucial practice session in Adelaide.

The move has sparked speculation regarding their fitness and workload management, as the Indian team prepares for the upcoming Test following a high-stakes 1-1 series.

India vs Australia Jasprit Bumrah Mohammed Siraj training session

While the Indian team conducted a full-fledged training session on Tuesday morning, both Bumrah and Siraj were notably absent. This decision has drawn attention as Bumrah, the vice-captain and leading pacer, has already shouldered a heavy workload in the first two Tests, playing a pivotal role in India's victory in Perth.

His eight-wicket haul in the opening Test was a match-defining performance, and despite sustaining a slight hamstring concern during the Adelaide Test, Bumrah quickly recovered and continued to bowl. The Indian team management is mindful of Bumrah's physical well-being, especially in a long five-match series against Australia, which has prompted them to manage his workload carefully.

Siraj, too, was missing from the practice session, raising questions about his fitness. Though he played a key role in the Adelaide Test with his four-wicket haul, his absence from training suggests that the team is cautious about overloading their pacers.

Siraj's contribution in the absence of other bowlers like Mohammed Shami, who is still recovering from an ankle injury, has made him a vital part of the Indian bowling attack. With Shami's availability uncertain for the remaining Tests, Siraj's health and form will be under close observation.

India's struggle with the bat has meant that the bowlers, particularly Bumrah and Siraj, have been under increased pressure. The batting unit has yet to deliver substantial scores, leaving the responsibility on the bowlers to break partnerships and keep the Australians in check. Bumrah's crucial role in the attack has become even more critical, as the Indian team seeks to maintain competitive pressure in the series.

The decision to skip practice could be part of a broader strategy to ensure Bumrah and Siraj stay fit and ready for the high-intensity matches ahead. With the third Test scheduled to begin on December 14, the Indian team's focus will be on keeping their key bowlers fresh and in top condition for the remainder of the series.
