Ravindra Jadeja showed once again why he is valued so highly as an all-rounder as the left-arm spinner broke the backbone of his rivals' batting line-up during India vs Australia match at the ICC World Cup 2023 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai.
Ravindra Jadeja started off with the big wicket of Steve Smith, who was rebuilding the Australian innings after early jolts. The former Australia captain, who missed out on his half-century by four runs, failed to read the line of the quick delivery by the left-arm orthodox bowler.

Ravindra Jadeja returned for the next over from the same end as he had a set Marnus Labuschagne (27) taken caught behind amid loud cheers by the fans at the Chepauk Stadium. Labuschagne, however, wasn't convinced if he nicked the ball, and went for a successful DRS review, which confirmed an outer edge of the ball through Snicko meter technology
The left-arm spinner claimed his third wicket two balls later as he trapped newly-in Alex Carey lbw in what was a two-ball short stay at the crease for the wicketkeeper-batter. Carey thought of taking a DRS but was advised against it by teammate Glenn Maxwell, who witnessed the delivery from the other end.
Jadeja certainly enjoyed a lot of help from Chinnaswamy's rank turner and was joined in the wicket column by Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin. Chinaman Kuldeep took two of the big scalps of David Warner (41), who he had caught behind for a soft dismissal, and Glenn Maxwell (15). R Ashwin, on the other hand, hard-hitting dangerman Cameron Green.
The wrath of the spin trio left the Australian batting line-up crumbling at seven down without even putting 150 runs on the board. At the time of writing, Australia were 157/7 in 40.3 over with skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc putting up a fight from the Aussie tail.
