The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final is locked in, and it's India that will clash with Australia in the summit clash later this year.
While Australia confirmed their spot with a victory in one of the matches of the recent four-match series in India, the Men in Blue booked their spot after beating their WTC final opponents 2-1 in the series and also thanks to New Zealand beating Sri Lanka.
This will be India's second appearance in the WTC Final. In the inaugural edition, India lost to New Zealand by 8 wickets in the summit clash at the Rose Bowl in Southampton in June 2021.
Now, Rohit Sharma-led side will look to better that result when they face Australia in London in June 2023. Australia, meanwhile, will be playing their first-ever WTC final, having missed out the last time after losing the home series at home and due to cancellation of two series.
Australia topped the WTC 2021-23 cycle standings to reach the final with 152 points and 66.67%, while India finished second in the points table with 127 points and 58.80%. Both teams played in six series like the other 9 teams involved in the ICC World Test Championship.
