India and Australia are set to battle out at the Oval on Day 3 of the World Test Championship Final 2023. Australia are currently leading their counterparts by a handsome margin and are clearly in the driving seat.
Amid India's quest for an ICC trophy, they need a herculean effort today (June 9) to restore some sort of grip on the proceedings. India's dismal batting display has slumped them towards a follow-on and they will have to score 119 runs more to avoid that.

As we prepare for the 3rd day of the WTC Final 2023, here are three names who may have a massive say in the day's play.
Indian fans need a hero, and Ajinkya Rahane has the perfect opportunity to be that. The Indian batter is making a return to the national team and has made a decent start to his life.
Rahane saw out the danger period yesterday and survived to build his inning. He remains unbeaten on 29 and India's case rests in his robust hands. A rejuvenated Rahane relishes tough situations and none gets bigger than this for him to stamp his authority.
With KS Bharat at the other end, Rahane will be aiming to steer India closer towards a decent score without losing wickets in the first session. His overseas record is excellent and we all know his heroics against Australia, today the whole nation just needs another one.
Mitchell Starc's figure doesn't do justice to his performance. The Australian pacer has conceded 52 runs in 9 overs but got the prised wicket of Virat Kohli.
The left-arm pacer dismissed the Indian batter with a peach of a delivery, and expect some more of that in the morning session today. If Starc clicks, India can rattle within the first session. After some injury issues, Starc has looked fit and robust and the Aussie pacer will be keen to make his lethal mark in the WTC Final.
Usman Khawaja was utterly disappointed after getting out for a duck in the first innings. Australia's best batter in this WTC cycle failed to trouble the scorers and will be raring to go in the second opportunity.
Khawaja is a class batter and his form against India in the BGT earlier this year was sublime. If India get bundled out today, Australia would definitely love to pile a mammoth score in the 2nd innings and Khawaja looks certain to play a big part in that.
