India vs Canada: Three changes India can make to test bench strength ahead of Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024

India vs Canada: After winning each of their first three Group A matches, India have already qualified for the Super 8 round of T20 World Cup 2024 and the match against Canada at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida on Saturday (June 15) will give them the opportunity to test their bench strength.

Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson have warmed the bench in all three group games, and it would not be a bad idea to give them some game time ahead of the crucial Super 8 round where India would play dangerous Afghanistan and Australia.

It's also a fact that forcing the in-form players to sit out could also not be a good idea. For example, benching Rishabh Pant, who is returning to India colours after a long gap and doing well, would be called an unwise move.

Same is the case with Suryakumar Yadav, who played a mature match-winning knock against USA in the last match before failing against Ireland and Pakistan.

What options do India have to try out Kuldeep, Chahal and Samson without hampering their winning momentum. Let's find out.

Kuldeep Yadav for Axar Patel: Axar Patel is one player who can be rested to bring in Kuldeep Yadav. Axar Patel has impressed more as the spin-bowling all-rounder so far, and chances of Ravindra Jadeja being dropped from the playing eleven is really low.

Ravindra Jadeja did not bat or bowl in the last game. India would want him to spend some time on the park ahead of the Super 8 stage. Therefore, Kuldeep Yadav coming in for Axar Patel could be an option.

Sanju Samson for Hardik Pandya: Hardik Pandya has done exceptionally well as a pacer. He is India's joint-leading wicket-taker and joint-third in the overall list of highest wicket-takers in T20 World Cup 2024. Hardik and Arshdeep have taken seven wickets each.

Hardik, the batter is yet to fire but all the batters from all the teams struggled to score at the tricky and low-scoring Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Considering his history of injuries, there is always a fitness concern with Hardik.

The Mumbai Indians captain bowled in the IPL 2024 and has bowled four overs in each of India's three matches so far. Spinners would play a key role in the Super 8 round which will be played in West Indies, and India might not play with three specialist pacers.

In that case Hardik's role would increase manifold. Giving him a break, and trying out Sanju Samson in Lauderhill, Florida could be another good idea from the Indian team management.

Yuzvendra Chahal for Jasprit Bumrah: The wicket in Florida is expected to help the spinner and this can give India the opportunity to give Yuzvendra Chahal a chance to play as well. He is the only player who hasn't played at all for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. The leg-spinner did not get an opportunity to bowl even in the warm-up match.

USA cricketer Unmukt Chand on Friday told star sports that Florida surface is expected to get slow and help spinners due to the overcast conditions prevailing the state for the last few days. Giving premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah a rest and bringing in the vastly experienced Chahal could be one of the options for India.
