Team India will look to bounce back and level the series when they face upbeat England in second of the five-match Anthony de Mello Trophy Test series at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium in Vizag, starting on Friday (February 2).
Rohit Sharma-led India suffered a 28-run loss to Ben Stokes' England in the series opener on a testing surface at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad last week.

After conceding a 190-run lead, England fought back through Ollie Pope’s 196 to set a target of a chase-able 231 for India in the fourth innings with almost five sessions remaining in the contest. However, Team India fell to Tom Hartley’s spin to suffer a series-opening loss.
The home side failed to chase on a spinning track as Hartley claimed figures of 7 for 62 in the fourth innings. Now, the hosts’ batters will test their skills against spin on a similar track in Visakhapatnam, where the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium will host it’s third Test.
India and England will meet for the second time in Test format at the Vizag venue, where the hosts claimed a 246-run in 2016. In the only other Test and the most recent red ball international match at the venue, India beat South Africa by 203 runs in 2019.
Now, before their second meeting at the venue, here is a look at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium Stats, Record, Pitch Report and Vizag Weather Forecast ahead of India vs England 2nd Test:
The pitches at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium have been batting friendly, but have also assisted quicker bowlers and the spinners as the match wears on like most wickets in the country.
The expectation is for a spinning track to be prepared for the IND vs ENG Test, but the hosts will be careful after what happened in the first Test and in the Tests last year against Australia. However, the black soil wickets in Vizag may not offer as much bounce as Hyderabad.
The last time a Test match was hosted at the venue, India ran out winners by 203 rus against South Africa when the game ended on the fifth day with Mohammed Shami (5 for 35) and Ravindra Jadeja (4 for 87) starring with the ball for the hosts on the final day.
India played only two specialist spinners in that match, and both contributed to the wickets column, but a pacer played a crucial role in the outcome of the match which could have ended in a draw.
Overall in the two Tests so far, the team batting first have 2 victories with captains winning the toss also preferring to bat first and get runs on the board when the wicket is more easier to score on. The average scores also show, the team batting first, get more runs on the board.
The weather forecast from Friday (February 2) to Tuesday (February 6) indicates warm conditions throughout the playing days with max temperature of 32-34° C. There is threat of rain on the third day of the match, but the thunderstorm is unlikely to wash out much of play. So, weather will not play spoilsport in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test.
