Upbeat Team India will look to continue winning run and seal the series when they face England in fourth Test at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, starting on Friday (February 23).
Rohit Sharma-led India bounced back from opening game defeat with back-to-back wins that saw them take a 2-1 lead against Ben Stokes’ England in the five-Tests series.

Team India rode on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s second double century and Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round heroics that included a century in the first innings and a five-wicket haul in the second innings to seal a massive 434-run victory over England in the last outing at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot.
India will now look to challenge Bazball further in their first-ever Test meeting against England at the Ranchi venue, where the hosts have won once and drawn one in Tests. They drew to Australia in 2017 and beat South Africa by an innings and 202 runs in 2019.
Now, before their first meeting at the venue, here is a look at the JSCA Stadium Stats, Record, Pitch Report and Ranchi Weather Forecast ahead of India vs England 4th Test:
Like most venues in the country, the pitches at the JSCA Stadium have been batting friendly in the first two days, but tend to assist the spinners as the match wears on. The last Test at the venue saw the quick bowlers also find some joy, but that was five years ago.
Although there will be some help for pacers early in the game, another turner is expected to be prepared for the IND vs ENG Test with Kuldeep Yadav, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja likely to be accompanied by another spin option in Axar Patel, who also adds depth to the batting.
The last time a Test match was hosted at the venue in Ranchi, India won by an innings and 202 runs against South Africa with the game ending inside four days.
Although India played three specialist spinners in that match, it was the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav who contributed to the wickets column with 10 of the 20 South Africa wickets.
Overall in the two Tests so far, the team batting first has won once, while captains winning the toss have preferred to bat first and get runs on the board when the wicket is more easier to score on. That pattern will continue even in this Test.
The weather forecast from Friday (February 23) to Tuesday (February 27) indicates warm conditions from day one to four with max temperature of 26-30° C. However, there is threat of rain on the final day (February 27) which may interrupt play in the IND vs ENG 4th Test if the game slips into the ultimate day.
