IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah to be rested in Rajkot? Who will replace the ace pacer?

India's Test hero and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the 3rd Test in Rajkot.

Jasprit Bumrah played a key part in India's stunning victory over England in the 2nd Test. The pacer picked up nine wickets across two innings as India levelled the series in Vizag. He conceded just 91 runs for his nine scalps and was awarded the Player of the Match for his scintillating performance.

But according to reports, Indian selectors are thinking about resting the pacer for the upcoming match in Rajkot. They have contacted BCCI for his omission from the next Test, which will allow the player some pivotal days to recuperate for the final two Tests.

The ace Indian pacer recently recovered from a long-term back injury and after the intense workloads in the first two matches, it is ideal for him to get a few days off. It will mean that the Indian selectors will have to bring in someone else for the third Test.

The 30-year-old currently has picked up 15 wickets in the first two matches, which makes him the highest wicket-taker in the series so far.

Who will replace Jasprit Bumrah?

Jasprit Bumrah's unavailability can open the doors for Mohammed Siraj. The Indian peace was left out of the Vizag Test, but is expected to join the team in Rajkot. He has been another top performer for India in recent months and can make a mark for himself in the coming match.

India also have Avesh Khan in the side and the Madhya Pradesh fast bowler can also come into the mix if required. Mukesh Kumar, who played the latest match, may continue despite having a poor return in Vizag.

Bumrah's workload management is a pivotal part of India's plans, who already have Mohammed Shami out injured. Shami's ankle issue requires surgery which keeps him out for the entirety of the series.

India restored parity in Vizag but will be missing key players in Rajkot. Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are likely to be sidelined while Virat Kohli's availability is also under question.
