India vs England TOSS Update: Why Was The Toss Delayed For 5th T20I?
The toss for the India vs England T20I at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, was scheduled for 6:30 PM IST. However, despite a no-rain alert for the day, the toss was delayed due to a very bizarre reason.
England arrived at the venue on schedule ahead of the fifth T20I. However, the Indian team was delayed after getting caught in traffic and reached the stadium only around 6:35 PM, as confirmed by the broadcasters' visuals.

According to Cricinfo, the Indian team took nearly an hour to travel to the Southampton stadium by bus from the Southampton Airport Parkway station because of heavy traffic.
Former cricketer Ravi Shastri also remarked, seeing the bizarre situation, on the broadcast of the 5th T20I, "In all my years of cricket, it's never happened that a toss has been delayed due to a team being stuck in traffic."
"They have been late big-time. The toss should have happened by now. This is where the Mumbai police takes the cake. Rather than waiting for something to happen, they should be proactive," Shastri added.
The delay could have a significant impact on India's preparations, as pre-match warm-ups are crucial for elite athletes to get physically and mentally ready for competition.
Bowlers typically use the warm-up period to loosen up, build rhythm, and prepare their bodies for the demands of their spells, while batters spend valuable time in the nets sharpening their timing and hand-eye coordination. Unlike weather-related interruptions that affect both sides equally, this delay is expected to impact India far more than England.
It was later confirmed that the toss would take place at 7:15 PM IST, with the match scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST, resulting in a 30-minute delay.
