India vs Ireland, Dublin Weather Update Live: Rain set to play spoilsport at The Village in Malahide

As expected the first T20I between India and Ireland on Friday, August 18, was hit by rain in the second innings. Despite overcast conditions, rain did not play spoilsport in the first innings as Ireland posted 139/7.

However, drizzles turned into heavy showers during the seventh over of the second innings.

AccuWeather had predicted continuous rain from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM IST local time (9:30 PM IST to 2:30 PM IST). The precipitation level during the period will be in excess of 80 percent.

When rain stopped play India were two runs ahead on the DLS. In case the play does not resume, India will win the match by two runs (DLS method)

The match is witnessing the return of India pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah return to action after 326 days. Rinku Singh is also making his much-awaited India debut. Also, pacer Prasidh Krishna, who is making his T20I debut alonsgide Rinku, is making his return from injury.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 24 off 23, while Tilak Varma, who walked in at three, got out for a golden duck. Ruturaj Gaikwad (19* off 16) and Sanju Samson (1* off 1) are in the middle.

Bumrah has been appointed the captain for the three T20Is which is preceding the Asia Cup 2023 which begins from August 30. Eyes will be on Bumrah, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson who are in the race for a berth in India's Asia Cup squad.
