India vs New Zealand: Day 1 of the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was called off due to persistent rain.
The stop-start nature of the drizzle made the work hard for the groundsmen in Bengaluru and when the Day 1 play was abandoned at 2:30 PM, it had started to rain heavily in the Karnataka capital.

The condition of the ground also deteriorated and damp patches were seen around the pitch. Earlier, Saba Karim on air also revealed that it would take another hour and a half to complete the technicalities of the HawkEye System after the covers are removed. Usually all the arrangements are completed a day before the match but the pitch has remained under the cover for the past few days due to rain.
To make up for the lost time on Day 1, the BCCI has announced revised session timings for Day 2 of the opening Test. The toss will take place at 8:45 AM IST, and if there is no further delay due to rain, the action will kick off at 9:15 AM IST.
Revised Session Timings, Day 2
With the pitch under cover for a considerable amount of time and overcast conditions prevailing, both the teams will be tempted to play with three pacers. India have three pacers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, and chances of all three playing are very high now.
