Hitman Rohit Sharma becomes first Indian to achieve amazing record in ODIs

India captain Rohit Sharma has added another feather to his long list of illustrious achievements during their match against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Sunday (October 22).

Rohit Sharma has led the Indian team chasing New Zealand's big total in the current match and is looking in superb touch. He has been a man in form in the tournament, currently scoring the most number of runs so far.

And on Sunday, so early on in his inning, Rohit Sharma has achieved a monumental record. The Indian captain hit a gigantic six of Matt Henry's ball in the 2nd over. He came down the ground and launched it for 89 metres, sending it to the second tier at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala.

Rohit Sharma 50 Sixes

With that, Rohit Sharma has now become the first Indian to hit 50 ODI sixes in a calendar year. The 36-year-old batter is a destructive player and his record shows true testament to his batting prowess.

With the six off Henry, Rohit is currently ranked 3rd among the players with the most ODI sixes in a calendar year. West Indies legend Chris Gayle (56) and former South Africa star AB de Villiers (58) are only the players ahead of him.

Can Rohit Sharma get to the top of the Six-hitting chart?

At the time of writing, Rohit Sharma has so far struck 53 sixes in this calendar year. With at least four more matches to go for India in this World Cup, Rohit Sharma will be hovering around the top chart and may topple Mr. 360 by the end of the group stages.
