India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match is set to resume on Monday (September 11) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where the play was washed out on the actual scheduled day (Sunday, September 10), forcing the match into the reserve day.
Put into bat, India had scored 147 for 2 in 24.1 over with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul unbeaten at the crease when rain stopped play. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, who took the attack to the Pakistan bowlers, smashed fifties before they were dismissed in quick succession.

It must be noted that the first meeting between the arch-rivals in this tournament has already fallen victim to a wash out after the group stage clash at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy saw only India complete their innings at 266.
With a sketchy weather being forecast and to not disappoint the fans, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had announced a reserve day for Sunday's clash on Monday (September 11). But the weather does not look promising even on the reserve day to have a full match.
There is every chance the weather may play spoilsport again on Monday (September 11), Here we take a look at the hourly weather in Colombo and the current weather forecast at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo:
It is expected to be a cloudy day with forecast for thunderstorms for most part of the day, starting from 9 AM Local Time, but there are periods of cloudy conditions without any rain threat from 2 PM to 4 PM Local Time before many spells of thunderstorm in the area.
From 4 PM to 6 PM, the thunderstorms are predicted to return again to parts of Colombo. There is also prediction for thunderstorms at 7 PM and 10 PM. All in all, it's going to be a hard-working day for the groundstaff at the R Premadasa Stadium. So, let's take a look at the hourly weather updates of Colombo:
Play to resume at 9:20 PM IST with no overs being lost despite losing an hour's play due to rain and wet outfield. So, the match will resume as a 50-over contest in which Pakistan need 313 runs to win from 39 overs.
The groundstaff are removing the covers just few minutes after bringing them on. The umpires are out for inspection. If there is no more rain in the next few minutes, play should resume soon.
Only the square and the pitches were under cover till now, but the groundstaff seem to bringing more covers on to cover more area of the outfield as well. There must be a slight drizzle or there seems to be anticipation of another spell of rain soon.
It seems to have stopped raining in Colombo as the groundstaff can be seen on the field back at work. The covers are slowly being removed. Play could resume soon.
There is still a long way to go for this match is called off as the cut off time is 12 AM IST (Tuesday, September 12). Also to obtain a result today, Pakistan should have faced 20 overs. They have already played 11 overs. If there is no further play, the points will be shared, but as it stands the rain doesn't seem to be pouring down and there is still at least 3 and half hours left to squeeze in those 9 overs.
Covers are in place as the rain gets heavier in Colombo. India are on top with Pakistan losing Babar Azam and Imam Ul Haq in the first 11 overs. Pakistan will hope that rain washes out any play as they could be well behind if the match resumes and 20 overs are bowled to obtain a result.
If rain stops play after the 20th over (and if there is no play after that), Pakistan, to win at that stage, needs to be...

Rain has stopped play again in Colombo. This started as a drizzle and then got heavier as the players left the field. Just nine more overs are needed to get a result. Pakistan as it stands will be happy to leave the field as they are in a spot of bother at 44/2 in 11 overs.
The groundsmen are prepared on the sidlines as there is threat of another spell of rain. If it rains and the play is stopped for a long time, we will definitely start losing overs. As it stands, the players have taken a drink break.

It remains clear for now and is likely to be the same for the next hour as per the forecast. But there is chance of thunderstorms again later in the day. As it stands, the match will resume as a 50-over match, but another delay due to rain will see the overs being reduced.
Some good news coming! The next inspection at R Premadasa Stadium is scheduled for 4:20 PM
As per reports, India head coach Rahul Dravid has also walked into the middle for an inspection of his own. Dravid then had a chat with umpires and some Pakistani players. The head coach directly heads into the dressing room and relays the message to Virat Kohli. Kohli has walked out to face some throwdowns.
The visuals show that the umpires have stepped into the middle for an inspection of the ground as some of the covers have come off and the groundsmen are at work at R Premadasa Stadium.
The covers are being removed, but the start time will be confirmed only when the umpires complete their inspection of the outfield.
The start of play has been delayed due to rain. While the rain has eased, the entire ground continues to remain under covers as the groundstaff are set for another busy day in Colombo. As it stands, we are still three hours away from when we will start losing overs.

The slight drizzle seems to have stopped and the groundstaff have started removing the covers. However, the match will not start till the umpires finish the inspection. Like on Sunday, September 10, the cut off time is extended by 90 minutes even today. So, they still have until 12 AM IST (Tuesday, September 12) to complete the match and have until 10:30 PM for a 20-over match to take place.
Just when we saw visuals of the covers being peeled, the rain returned in the form of drizzle, forcing the covers back on. So, the match is unlikely to start at the scheduled time of 3 PM IST as the frustrating wait continues for both the teams.

The rain has completely stopped at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the covers are being peeled off, starting with ones on the pitch followed by the outfied. If there is no further rain, play should start after a slight delay on the reserve day.

Good news as it has currently stopped raining in Colombo, but the covers are still on as there is a slight drizzle. As it stands, the start of play on the reserve day is likely to be delayed.
Still no change as it continues to pour in Colombo. With the forecast for the remainder of the day also not looking very promising, are we going to see another wash out?

Not good news as it's pouring down and the field is fully under covers now. Still an hour away from start of play, but there could be delay now due to rain.
It's currently 30° C with a humidity of 67 percent in Colombo. No sign of the predicted rain as the forecast resembles one of yesterday. ACC also has posted latest picture of the venue. Fingers crossed that the rain stays away.
Clear skies : Every cricket fan's desire today!

The weather is cricket friendly and we are prepared.
Pakistan vs India resumes today, at 3PM!#AsiaCup2023 #PAKvsIND pic.twitter.com/xvoyrzGEF6
Sun seems to be out, but the worrying signs are the white clouds which may turn grey before the scheduled time for start of play at 3 PM IST. It has to be noted, the weather was fine till 4:45 PM even yesterday before rain washed out further play.

As it stands, there is no rain, but it remains overcast in Colombo. The current temperature is 30° C with a humidity of 73 percent. However, World Weather Online updated forecast doesn't look promising for any cricket action.
The cut off time on the reserve day is yet to be known. Well, all that will come into play if rain delays play. The cut off time for the IND vs PAK match on September 10 was 12 AM IST, but that could be different today as India will need to play another match tomorrow. Any update on the cut off time and more will be updated here. So, stay tuned.
According to ICC playing conditions, each team will need to face at least 20 overs to obtain a result in a ODI match. As it stands, India has already played 24.1 overs. So, if it starts raining before the start of play today, the DLS target for Pakistan will be calculated depending on the number of overs lost.
If this match is washed off or there is no result possible, India and Pakistan will share one point each. Pakistan will move to the top of the Super Four standings with three points, having won against Bangladesh, while Sri Lanka will sit in second and India in third.
Cloudy with maximum temperature of 29° C and a humidity of 79 percent. But there is chance of a spell of rain around 1 PM as per some weather apps. As it stands, the rain has stayed away for more than 3 hours now.
There has been no rain in Colombo for the last hour and a half. However, it still remains overcast with prediction of a thunderstorm in the next hour as per AccuWeather, who also forecast the current temperature at 28° C with a humidity of 79 percent.

Although AccuWeather and Weather.com forecast don't look promising, World Weather Online website has predicted the reserve to be a little kind. However, many of these apps and website have usually got their predictions wrong, especially in Colombo, where the weather is very unpredictable.
After on and off rains overnight and in the early morning, the sun is out in Colombo. The current temperature is 27° C with a humidity of 81 percent. While the sun is out, it still seems overcast and there is prediction for rain to return again.

9 AM Weather Update: It has been raining from early morning in Colombo. Although the weather apps or websites say the condition is cloudy without rain, it doesn't look promising for a full match as it stands.
