As the countdown to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 inches closer, cricket fever is reaching unprecedented heights, particularly for the much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. With the matches set to take place on US soil, ticket sales have skyrocketed, leaving cricket enthusiasts in awe and anticipation.
Recent reports indicate that tickets for two of India's matches, notably against Pakistan and Canada, have already been sold out, fueling an exponential surge in demand on resale platforms.

According to USA Today, tickets for the India-Pakistan encounter scheduled for June 9 in New York and the match against Canada on June 15 in Florida are now available at exorbitant prices, exceeding double their original value. Some resale listings have even reached an astonishing ₹1.86 crore, leaving spectators stunned at the unprecedented price tags.
During the initial phase of ticket sales facilitated by the ICC, prices ranged from a minimum of ₹497 to a maximum of ₹33,148, exclusive of taxes. However, resale platforms such as StubHub and SeatGeek have witnessed a surge in prices, with VIP tickets fetching as high as ₹33.15 lakh, and when platform fees are included, escalating to a staggering ₹41.44 lakh.
The cheapest ticket for the India-Pakistan clash on StubHub is priced at ₹1.04 lakh, while SeatGeek boasts the most expensive ticket at ₹1.86 crore, underscoring the intense demand and fervour surrounding this highly anticipated fixture.
Comparisons to previous events highlight the magnitude of this price surge, with ticket prices for the India-Pakistan match at the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup amounting to a fraction of the current resale values. Viagogo, a prominent secondary ticket marketplace, had listed the highest-priced ticket for the 2023 encounter at ₹57.15 lakh, significantly lower than the current resale figures for the T20 World Cup.
The rapid escalation in ticket prices underscores the immense popularity and global appeal of cricket, particularly when powerhouse teams like India and Pakistan face off. Despite the significant price tags, fans remain undeterred, eager to witness history unfold on the cricketing field.
