By MyKhel Staff

It was a carnival-like atmosphere in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Saturday (October 14) as the India vs Pakistan match at a packed Narendra Modi Stadium as hosts stranglehold their neighbours with their impressive bowling.

Pakistan in fact put themselves in a healthy position at one stage with skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan taking the side past 150 runs by the 29th over while losing just two wickets. However, all that soon changed and it started with the skipper's wicket in the 30th over.

Mohammed Siraj provided the breakthrough as he broke the 50-up stand in the 30th over by hitting the timber of Azam, who just reached his half-century. The wicket sent the crowd into jubilation while the celebration of Arijit Singh in the stand was delightful to watch.

The Bollywood's famed singer, who performed in a pre-match show before the game, took off his blazer and waved it in the air in celebration following the dismissal as the moment was caught on camera.

The dismissal had a spiral effect on Pakistan's batting line-up, who soon meekly surrendered from 155/2 to 191 all out by the 43rd over. The entire of Indian bowling unit fired in unison with all of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja taking two wickets.

Apart from Azam's 50, Rizwan missed out on his half-century (49) as Bumrah deceived him with a 130kmph off-cutter while the rest of the middle- and lower-order batters struggled to reach the double-digit figure.

Earlier in the innings, Abdullah Shafique (20) and Imam-Ul-Haq (36) failed to capitalise on a good start as they gave away their wickets after seeing out the new ball.

Before the match got underway, Arijit, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, and Sukhwinder Singh performed exclusively for the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium as Star Sports confirmed before the game that the pre-match won't be aired on TV or the OTT platform.
