India vs South Africa: Proteas without injured De Villiers for first three India ODIs

AB de Villiers' finger injury will keep him out of South Africa's opening three ODIs against India.

AB de Villiers of South Africa injured his finger during the third Test against India

Cape Town, January 30: South Africa are without AB de Villiers for the first three one-day internationals against India due to a finger injury.

Schedule and results

The explosive batsman hurt his right index finger during the third and final Test against India, which the tourists won by 63 runs in Johannesburg to claim a consolation win in the three-match series.

Cricket South Africa confirmed via a statement that de Villiers will need up to two weeks to make a recovery, meaning he is absent for the opening three of six ODIs taking place between February 1 and 7.

However, he could return for the fourth match at the Wanderers on February 10 and South Africa have opted not to call up a replacement.
