India vs South Africa 1st ODI Playing 11: India will take on South Africa in the first of the three ODI matches on Sunday (December 17) at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
After India's World Cup 2023 Final heartbreak, this is the first 50-over match the Men in Blue are playing. India already drew the T20I series 1-1 with the Proteas and will play two Tests after the conclusion of the ODI series.

India don't have their ODI Captain Rohit Sharma in this series as KL Rahul will be captaining the team. Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah are also absent as many young and new faces are set to take centre stage against the South African side.
Sanju Sampson, Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, and Ruturaj Gaikwad may get a nod to play in the first match on Sunday. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav both have been selected as the spinners and we expect the former to play on Sunday.
South Africa will be captained by Aiden Markram as Temba Bavuma has been rested for the series. The Proteas named a strong batting unit, but their bowling will be spearheaded by Lizaad Williams. Ottniel Bartman, Mihali Mpongwana and Nandre Burger are the new inclusions in pace department and they have Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj as spinners, with the latter likely to play on Sunday.
