India vs South Africa 2nd Test in Newlands will see no participation of pacer Gerald Coetzee as the 23-year-old South African is suffering from pelvic inflammation and won't recover in time for the match, starting January 3.
"Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee will miss the second Betway Test against India after developing pelvic inflammation during the first Test at SuperSport Park," Cricket South Africa wrote on 'X'.

Before his team destroyed India by an innings and thirty-two runs, Gerald Coetzee was only able to bowl five overs in the second innings, giving away 28 runs. In the first innings, he completed with figures of one for 74. The pacer had gone for scans on Friday, which showed the extent of the injury.
South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad has labeled Coetzee's rest "as a precautionary measure," while the hosts are yet to name his replacement. Gerald Coetzee is the second cricket player from South Africa to be ruled out of the series as skipper Temba Bavuma also sustained a hamstring injury in the match and couldn't bat.
Leading the side in Cape Town is Dean Elgar, who is playing his final international series. South Africa can turn to fellow pacers Lungi Ngidi and Wiaan Mulder to replace Coetzee. Thanks to its victory in the first Test, South Africa is now unbeaten and top of the World Test Championship 2023-24.
India had their injury concerns during the Test series too as senior pacer Mohammed Shami couldn't recover in time from his injury sustained during the ICC World Cup 2023, where he finished as the top wicket-taker.
